Make Student Transit Passes A Reality in LA County!

GroupEngWooDZ_700VERT.jpg

LA County is dramatically expanding its transit system BUT WHAT IF we also began a universal student transit pass program to help 700,000 community college and California State University students shift from cars to transit? Doubling student transit use would be like adding another Blue Line without any construction costs! PLEASE VOTE HERE to help Move LA win $100,000 to make students transit passes a reality across LA County.

Last month LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, chair of the Metro Board, introduced a motion to study the feasibility of implementing a universal student transit pass program — any line, any time — with the goal of not only increasing transit ridership but also providing students with a more affordable way to get an education.

Your online vote for us will help us win funding to work with community colleges, CSUs, and their Associated Student Organizations to build support for a student transit pass program. It will also make it possible for us to work with LA Metro to design a program that will boost transit use dramatically and serves the most students!

PLEASE VOTE to help make student transit passes a reality!

ABOUT THE VOTING:
Move LA has entered the Goldhirsh Foundation’s LA2050 Grants Challenge to win funding for this work. The link takes you to a video in which LA Trade Tech students talk about why student transit passes are so important, and to our proposal. Voting is open until noon on November 3. All you need to do is sign up for a one-time account by entering your email or using facebook. It takes 10 seconds!
