Valley Could Get a Light Rail Line From Canoga Park to Chatsworth -- Or Not

Last week Governor Brown signed a bill making it legal to convert the Orange Line BRT project into light rail, reversing a bill passed in 1991 that had prohibited light rail along the old Southern Pacific right-of-way. Coby King of the Valley Industry & Commerce Association says it's time for the SF Valley to run light rail north-south from Canoga Park to Chatsworth -- because of the potentially high ridership. But first it might have to make it into Metro's long-range plan, which may be revised soon: On The Source.

Others, however -- in this case Annie Weinstock and Stephanie Lotshaw on Streetsblog -- argue that it would be better to just improve the Orange Line because light rail provides no real advantage. Read it here.
