A Robust Public Bike Share Program is Vital to Our Transportation System

Metro's Bike Share program matters to me. I use it for short trips to get from our office in the Arts District to Metro Headquarters or meetings downtown. It helps to cut down my personal carbon footprint and helps me avoid parking challenges in Downtown LA. I just bought another Annual Pass because I rely on the system for first/last mile trips.

We need a robust Bike Share program--for transit riders like myself and for new riders looking to avoid traffic and parking challenges. We need way more electric bicycles, stations in way more locations (particularly in South and East LA, the San Fernando Valley, and beyond), we need stations ON Metro property, and we need it better integrated into payment and other systems. This is why it is vital that Metro and the City of LA fully fund our Bike Share system and move forward with a new Bike Share contract. Move LA signed a letter of support with 10 other community organizations that calls on Metro to "invest boldly in the future of Bike Share in Los Angeles, ensuring it is a reliable, equitable, and world-class system that meets the needs of all Angelenos and reflects a culture that values health, safety, and wellbeing." The award includes a unionized BikeHub workforce and community partners like Arellano Associates and BikeLA. Riders deserve a world-class Bike Share system.
